REPORT ON POSTER PRESENTATION
On February 2013,
my English 1 tutorial group, which was Group 8 were given a task to present a
poster presentation based on the short story ‘Lady or The Tiger’ written by
Frank Stockton. This task was given to us by our very own Mr Rosli Din himself,
our tutor. My partner, Muhammad Hafiz bin Mohd. Saidi and I were given a choice
whether to prepare a poster presentation on a mounting board or using slides in
Microsoft Powerpoint. We were requested to prepare the settings, synopsis,
themes, characters and characteristics of a certain chosen scene in the short
story. After that, we were required to relate that scene to other stories or
even our life stories that have the similar characteristics to the chosen
scene. We were given a duration of about one month to prepare so we came up
with many terrific ideas so we decided to share and contribute in our poster.
The weekend holiday was coming near so my partner and me went ahead and split
the work into two portions, one of it is for me to prepare and another for my
partner to prepare. We agreed with each other that we would present our part of
the poster when the time comes.
Our time was up,
the day had come for us to present our poster. On 1st April 2013, we
were asked to present our poster and we were the second team to present the
poster on that day. We did not hesitate though we know that we have done the
necessary preparation for this poster presentation. We bravely walked to the
front and presented our poster. The scene that we chose was the scene where the
young man was standing in the arena and trying to figure out which door he
should choose while the king and his princess just looks on. We were actually
quite pissed that there were a few other teams that had the same. Anyway, we
presented our poster in a proper manner but our tutor was not at all satisfied
with it. He wanted us to present a bit more on the relating part and lesser on
the synopsis and others. All this while I thought this poster presentation was
going to be a piece of cake but it was then that I realized the difficulty of
that poster presentation. I would like to say thank you to Mr Rosli Din for
giving me this opportunity to improve on my communicative skills. Our
presentation held a duration of more than 10 minutes so we were more than
satisfied.
