Causes And Effects Of Playing Scrabble By Husband In ‘Death By Scrabble’

   Have you ever read ‘ Death By Scrabble’ written by Charlie Fish? ‘Death By Scrabble’ is a short story about the husband and wife who are playing scrabble. The following paragraphs are the causes and effects  of playing scrabble by the husband in ‘Death By Scrabble’.

   The causes of palying scrabble by the husband in ‘Death By Scrabble’ short story are the husband has been forced by his wife to play scrabble. This is shown when the husband said if his wife was not around, he had been doing something interesting like climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Next, the husband also wants to give clue to his wife that he wants to kill her through the game. This can be seen when the husband wanted to make the word ‘KILL’ or ‘STAB’ to finish her off. Besides that, the husband also wants to win the game. This is shown when the husband tried to cheat in the scrabble game when his wife went to pour herself a cup of tea.

   The effects of playing scrabble by the husband in ‘Death By Scrabble’ short story are the husband choked the scrabble’s word at the end of the game. This can be seen when his wife make the word ‘DEATH’, the husband choked the word that he put in his mouth. Other than that, his house also has been damaged by the eartquake. This is shown when the husband played the word ‘QUAKE’ ,the room started to shake. Next, the husband has been disturbed by the flies. This can be seen when the husband made the word ‘FLY’, he thought that he will fly but the flies came to disturb him.

   In the conclusion, there are many causes and effects of playing scrabble by the husband in ‘Death By Scrabble’ short story. They hate each other while playing the scrabble’s games. I hope that they can get better in their relationship by playing scrabble by improving their communication between each other and live a happy life until the end.
