REPORT ON DRAMA PRESENTATION
The Unlucky
King based on The Lady or The Tiger
On 8th April
2013, my group and I had presented our drama based on the short story The Lady
or The Tiger written by Frank Stockton. We have our own title for the story
that is The Unlucky King. The drama was presented by Teh Tarik group members
which are Ahmad Izzat Asyraf bin Mazuki, Muhammad Hafiz bin Mohd Saidi, Diviyan
Raj s/o Sundera Raj and I. The story has six characters and two of us acted for
two different characters. The drama presentation carried 10% of our coursework
and we need to do it very well in order to get full mark. First, we made a
discussion to create new plot for the whole story. We took about one week to
write the script and then we submitted the first draft of the story. After a
few days, Mr. Rosli was checked our script, next, we need to do some
corrections and our drama practice started.
Mr. Rosli told us to do a preview
from the story and we choose to take Scene 4 as our preview for the drama. We
had done it very well and everybody seemed to be happy with the preview. We
continued our practice for the whole drama at the Halliburton until we already
prepared for it. Next, our members needed to pay RM10 to buy polystyrene, glue, wrapping paper and water colour in order to complete
the props.
After
practicing for a month, the most awaited day had come, the day that we need to
present our drama. We felt like having butterflies in our stomach, we were
dreadfully nervous. We were the third group to present the drama and it was
unbelievable when all of us acted very well. Our tutorial mates seemed very
happy with our drama and we hope our tutor also feel so.
After we have done our drama, I felt very grateful and relieved because all our effort in the making of
this drama paid off. The drama presentation was done successfully. I have got
many lessons from this drama presentation such as we need to work as a team, we
also must give a full commitment with others every time, and always work hard.
REPORT ON POSTER PRESENTATION
The Cunning
Man based on The Tell Tale Heart
On the 1st of April 2013, my partner, Ahmad
Izzat Asyraf bin Mazuki and I had done our poster presentation based on short
story The Tell Tale Heart with title The Cunning Man. We are the first group
that presented the poster and thank God that we had done our best. We did a
great job and I was relieved that finally we finished our poster presentation
and after this we can focus on our drama presentation. Our presentation was
held at Lecture Room 12 and it took approximately 12 minutes and we were so
happy with the presentation. Based on the short story, The Tell Tale Heart,
both of us decided to relate this story with a schizophrenic girl. Both of
these stories are related by the theme cunning man. We presented our poster
clearly and at the end of the presentation, the Q&A session comes in. We
decided that each drama group should ask us question based on the presentation
and we will answer it. We tried our best to let them understand this story.
Everyone in the class gives their full commitments and we were so happy with
that. The most important thing we hope that Mr. Rosli give us the acceptable
mark for the presentation.
The preparation of the poster presentation was so great. Teamwork is the
most important element when we are working as a team. I am so glad to have
Ahmad Izzat Asyraf bin Mazuki as my partner because he really did her jobs
excellently. By doing this presentation, we can improve our self confidence in
front of many people and we can also improve our speaking skills. I hope that
more presentations will be held in English classes as this is the only way to
sharpen our speaking skills in front of others. That’s all from me. Thank You.
SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES ESSAY
The
Characteristics of Two Main Characters from
Difference
Short Stories
Do
the young man and the husband have same characteristics? The Lady or The Tiger
is a short story written by Frank Stockton whereas Death by Scrabble is written
by Charlie Fish. The following paragraphs are about similarities and
differences between the young man and the husband which are the main characters
of the two short stories.
Both
of the characters are having some similarities in their characteristics. Both
of them are brave, the young man bravely approached the door which the princess
showed to him although he do not know whether there will be a lady or a tiger
behind the door while the husband bravely playing with the terrible words
although he knew that the game was jinxed and unfortunately he died because of
the word that he put in his mouth. Finally, the young man and the husband are
same in gender, both of them are male.
Apart
from similarities, there are some differences in their characteristics. The
different between the young man and the husband are their status, as we all
know, the young man is single and having a special relationship with the
princess. The husband is married but their marriage seems to be failed. Then,
their fate are not in common. The fate of the young man depends on one of the
doors that he will choose and the fate of the husband determined by the
scrabble. The young man trusted the princess because he thought the princess
will show him the right door. The husband died because he played the word QUAKE
and it was happened. Lastly, the young man loves the princess although he is a
common people but the husband hates his wife very much although they are
married.
In
the nutshell, each of the characters have their differences of characteristics.
This variety will make the story more interesting.

Research on Favourite
Car among UTP Students
What is the sexiest car for you? This
is the questions asked in a
particular survey conducted in Group 8 of English tutorial. On 11th March 2013
in University Teknologi Petronas, I have done a research in Group Tutorial
English 8 at Lecture Room 12 with my friends. On that day, our tutor, Mr. Rosli
Din asked us to have a piece of paper for each person. Then, he asked us to
write any question in that paper and he shuffled the position of the sheets of
our papers . After that, he distributed it to each person and we had to answer
it.
For
your information, there were 20 students who involved in the research and we
are the local students which are consisted of four different races that
are Malay, Chinese, Kadazandusun and Indian. All of us have a different background
and we are around 18 years old. Actually, our group have the international
students but they accidentally came late on that day, so they did not involve
in this survey. The girls are majority in this class.
Based
on the research I have done, 15% of the students like Nissan cars, 15% of them
also like car manufactured by Lamborghini and another 15% like local car brand
that is Perodua. For brand Toyota, Porsche, Chevrolet, Daihatsu, Audi, Mini Cooper,
BMW and Volkswagen, I got same percentage of 5% for each brands. 15% of them
which are three of the students did not state their specific type of car brand.
Some of them answer more than one brand, but I only took the first answer.
In
the nutshell, most of the students like car brands from Japan such as Nissan,
Toyota and Daihatsu. As we all know, Japan is the best country which expert in
car production because they have great technologies.

Dear
Babun,
Please
be informed that I am a daft old idiot man and I do not have enough time to
read your long story about one and half page but I sacrificed my time to finish
it my dear. I really feel sad for you and I am glad that your marriage had been
cancelled. You cannot marry with such type of man, he is a playboy! I am sorry to hear that your parents had
passed away. Congratulation! You have got your PhD from the excellent
university and I am happy to hear that.
Actually,
my wife had passed away 3 years ago. She left me with two children, both of
them are studying at university in their own favourite courses. I feel so
lonely. I have my own company, I am busy with my work but sometime I realized
that I need a company, a wife that can fulfil my entire life and can take care
of me. I still loving you, please marry me.
Sincerely,
Beben
CAUSES AND EFFECTS
Planning a
Death by Playing Scrabble
Who had been killed in the short
story Death by Scrabble? Death by Scrabble is an interesting story written by
Charlie Fish. The following paragraphs are about causes and effects for the
husband to sit with his wife and playing scrabble.
There are some causes when the
husband playing scrabble with his wife. Firstly, the husband hates his wife
more when his wife asked to play scrabble together. The husband would be doing
something interesting if his wife’s was not around such as climbing Mount
Kilimanjaro, starring in the latest Hollywood blockbuster and sailing the
Vendee Globe on a 60-foot clipper called the New Horizons. Secondly, this also
caused the husband to cheat while playing the game. The husband stole a blank
tile from the letter bag when his wife was not looking, and threw back a V from
his rack. His wife gave him a suspicious look to the husband and then she just
ignored him. Lastly, the husband wants to kill his wife by using scrabble, he
played with horrible words such as EXPLODES and QUAKE as he knew the game was
jinxed.
Now we talk about effects when the
husband playing scrabble with his wife. Firstly, the husband does not love his
wife anymore because of his wife attitude. For example, the husband mentioned
that his wife likes to sleep. Secondly, their marriage seemed to be failed
because there appears to be no communication between husband and wife. Lastly, the
husband got killed because of the B that he was chewing on gets lodged in his
throat and he was choking to death. His wife did not help him at all.
In the nutshell, the husband hates his wife
more because he was forced to play scrabble with her. In my opinion, they need
to strengthen their relationship by doing interesting activities together in
order to save their marriage.
